Kiara (Anese) Barnett, M.Ed is a third-year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program at George Washington University.

Throughout Anese's academic and professional career, her work has focused on supporting both mothers and children. Anese is also a volunteer with Postpartum Support Virginia. Anese is a wife and a boy mom of two.

In this episode, Anese shares her traumatic journey of her first high-risk pregnancy and how that led her to do advocacy work and perinatal therapeutic care for pregnant women and new moms. She talks about the importance of having a plan to bring to your doctor(s) so you can advocate for your needs.
